Being Celibate and Dating - When is The Right TIME To Say You're Celibate?
Today's question: When is the right time to tell someone you’re celibate? There are 8 guidelines to have this conversation while dating and being celibate for Christ. This is my personal opinion that had worked for me when dealing with men and relationships.
Guidelines
- [ ] Within the first 3-6 months
- [ ] DTR conversation (define the relationship)
- [ ] Intimate conversation are introduced
- [ ] Start to get physical (kissing or hugging)
- [ ] Realize You don’t have to reveal it to everyone that's you're celibate
- [ ] This conversation should be done in person or via phone
- [ ] Wait until you’re in a calm mental state
- [ ] Ask God to reveal their intentions prior to the conversation
Bible Verses
2 Corinthians 6:14- Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
James 1:19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Whether you’re in the beginning stages of a new relationship or you’ve decided to become celibate while you’re already in a relationship, you must be prepared for the consequences of that choice. The other person may have different standards and expectations. If they decide they can’t handle not having sex until marriage, let them go! Be confident that you will find the right person who will happily respect you.
