Lemon zest
Have you ever looked at a recipe and it called for a tablespoon of zested lemon? Have you ever wondered why should use us the lemon or is it really necessary? Well, today I'm going to answer those questions. I'm a net reader. The biblical nutritionists, I work with people who want to live their life by the Bible Diet. They want to have a very vibrant life. They want to be full of energy, but they want to eat the foods that God called good. And if you've been following my teaching, do you know the word good means excellent of its kind? So this is what we're going to talk about today. I want to share with you quickly how to zest the lemon and why does us to live in and you're going to be such a professional. You're going to love doing it. Have you ever noticed that when you do zest the lemon, if you've done this before, that you automatically start smelling the lemon?
Cooking with lemon zest
Yes. Because the appealing of the lemon has a very vibrant, has a very abundant flavor, and that's why they want you to zest it. Not only for the beautiful color. When you add this to toppings on top of a dessert or in a cake, you get these beautiful bright specks of yellow or orange or green, but you also get the oils of the peeling. This protects the fruit. It's what keeps the fruit fresh. Now, the first rule for them is I want you to buy organic. If you're going to zest fruit just for obvious reasons, then you want to wash it really well, scrub it. Why should it make sure there's no contamination on it at all because you're going to put this feeling in your favorite desserts? Then you went to find a tool that's going to work for you. There are two layers to the peeling of the citrus fruits.
How to zest a lemon
The top is the part we want. We don't want the white, which is called the pith. That's where we get into bitterness. You will not have bitterness in your desserts when you're just using the zest of the lemon. So this is a Zester tool here. It's one of my favorites. You can definitely use this. You'll find it a lot of different stores and you would just, you would just carry that across the fruit and look at those beautiful curls, aren't they just adorable? And that's where we're going to get the oil of the fruit. We're going to get the burst of flavor and, as you can see, we could just go ahead and zest this entire fruit, all of it. If you really love a lemon flavor, aren't these beautiful curls?
Zesting a lemon
Okay, so there we have it. Now. If I will not use the juice of this lemon right now, then I need to be very careful to wrap this up in a in a plastic bag and it until I'm ready to use this. The good news is you can also freeze this lemon zest for other recipes, so I would use my one tablespoon for the recipe I'm getting ready to make and then I would save the rest in the freezer.
