Questions About Nutrition In The Bible:

1. How can I stay healthy eating and honoring God with my body while I'm in school? Busyness and the social aspect of eating seem to be factors that are kind of derailing? - Becca

It's all about habits, planning and mindset. So just as you plan to go to school, which includes which classes to take, we also plan our meals, our schedule, and even more things than that. Now, convenience is the enemy of our day. Many years ago, people were busy. But food was not sold at convenience stores. Therefore you had to plan it was very important.

I have a feeling your question was also about eating out. So when you go out eat salads, skip the french fries and skip the pizza, skip the bread and then look for more Mediterranean style restaurants and they seem to be very common, your college campuses. I hope that helps.

2. I'm finding that I'm struggling in creating meal plan recipes and eating for biblical health. Did it take some time to implement the changes that you used for God's plan for you and your families? - Cheryl

The answer's yes and no, I had no time to think otherwise. I had no time to negotiate. I just had to do it. So since we were working hard to show the doctor that we could do this, I jumped in quickly. And I quickly learned how to cook. And I learned how to cook several meals of rice and beans and just all kinds of combinations. And then I would freeze some of it and put these portions away and then just be able to pull things out.

I had to start learning how to think through each step. I used to use prepared foods now I was using whole foods and that's a learning curve. Yet I accepted the learning curve. I accepted it quickly. And I looked at it with a smile and I realized how I was relying on processed foods for most of our meals before and I'm not going to do that anymore. So that was part of the mindset. I was ready to take this on and I was ready to make it work. The learning curve is always shortest when your mindset is ready.

3. I have watched your six biblical steps on how to remove negative thinking. My question is, is this something that you personally struggled with during your journey with Christ? - Whitney

The short answer is yes. That is where the answers have come from. In my own research in my own study, and what God's Word teaches, I wanted to blame others, I wanted to blame my past, I wanted to blame my lack of good role models, you can have that being on in the list. But those are all just thoughts and thoughts determine behavior, negative thoughts will continue to come along, they just do. Those thoughts become our beliefs, and then that determines our behavior, our behavior will then transpire into our results.

4. I’m overwhelmed and don't know where to start. I have type two diabetes. I also need to lose 70 pounds. - Jeannie

Okay, deep breath. So let me just give you some applicable options. Start with the seven steps, the free course, go through the seven steps very, very slowly, and then master each step. Until the mind is ready, the physical changes will not work. This is why so many times I recommend the Daniel fast first because it addresses the heart of the matter. And then we move into the 40 days because it addresses the mindset. And last we feed the mind with the knowledge as in the treasures of healthy living course or the book.
