Today we're going to talk about humility. Do you really know what it is? And can you recognize when you have fake humility? It's a tough one today, but it's going to hit the mark. So stay tuned. And let's talk about this. When you are ready to be truly healed, both spiritually and physically, then we must listen to our words.
I hear it in small groups, Bibles from Bible study leaders and just Christians in all circles, it seems like a very humble spirit. It's not. It's totally contrary to God's word. Here are the words of Oswald Chambers. He wrote it best. So let me just share what he wrote. He says, the way we continually talk about our own inability is an insult to the Creator. The deploring of our own income incompetence is a slander against God for having overlooked us.
Get into the habit of examining in the sight of God, the things that sound humble before men, and you will be amazed. You will be amazed at how staggering and impertinent they are. He goes on to say, Oh, I shouldn't like to say that I'm sanctified. I'm not a saint.
Say that but for God and it means no, Lord, it's impossible for you to save me, it's impossible for you to sanctify me. There are chances that I've not had so many imperfections in my brain and in my body, no, Lord, it is impossible. Oh, that hurts. It may sound wonderfully humble before men, but before God, it's an attitude of defiance. Again, the things that sound humble before God may totally sound the opposite before men are the people you're talking to, to say, Thank God, I know I'm saved. I know I'm sanctified is in the sight of God is the acme of humility.
It means you have so completely abandon yourself to God that you know he is true. never bother your head as to whether what you say it sounds humble before man or not. But always, always be humbled before God, and let him be the all in all. There's only one relationship that matters. And that is your personal relationship to a personal Redeemer and our Lord, let everything else go.
But maintain that, that relationship at all cost, and God will fulfill his purpose through your life. One individual life may be priceless value to God's purposes, and yours may be that life. Now, I want you to take a moment to read what I hear on a daily basis and ask yourself if you have thought this or you have thought about this yourself.
Here's what I get sent to me every week and that I can't lose weight. I don't have the money to eat healthy. I was born with this image emotional eating problem. God gave me cancer. Well, my dad died early have a heart disease, so I probably will too. This is how God made me. Well, my over eating is my cross to bear. I'm not a saint. My addiction is too much for me to handle. Do you hear it? These words, they're contrary to God's Word. Let us not insult the Lord God Almighty by saying these words.
These words are saying, Lord, it is impossible for you to heal. It is impossible for you to love me as I am for you to sanctify me for you to set me apart. Lord, I keep failing and I know you've given up on me. Insult on insult. He reigns and he rules he created He loves and instead listen to your thoughts. Write them down.
We can change that to be God honoring, which is a humbling word. Lord, thank You for redeeming me, and setting me free from emotional eating. The emotional eating is not from you, nor it is the way that you created me is not what my body is supposed to do. And I have been running away like Jonah. And now I want to serve you. Therefore I praise you, oh God, for deliverance from this and for your love. I now run to your arms instead of food and I am saved. I am sanctified by your love. And it was for Christ to be set free.
