A Hard Week, a Simple Supper & Just Sitting Down to Visit
This is one of those videos that really wasn’t planned.
Ron has taken a pretty hard turn with his rheumatoid arthritis over the past few days after doing so well for quite a while. My mind has been in a dozen different places, supper plans pretty much went out the window, and somewhere in the middle of all of it I decided to turn the camera on.

So today isn’t a polished cooking video. It’s really more of a kitchen-table visit with old friends.
While we visit, I’m making the oatmeal breakfast bread that Josiah and I have been working on over the past couple of months. It’s a hearty quick bread loaded with oats, flavored with nutmeg and a little molasses, and not nearly as sweet as most breakfast breads. We’re still tinkering with it a bit, but it has become a favorite around here.
And on this particular night, when Ron mostly wanted some applesauce and to be left alone and I didn’t have much interest in making a real supper, a slice of warm breakfast bread and a glass of milk sounded just fine.
Sometimes life is like that.
Things don’t always run smoothly. Sometimes the plans change, somebody isn’t feeling well, your thoughts are scattered, and you just do the next simple thing in front of you.
But God is still good.
So if you enjoy the slower side of our channel—the visiting, the rambling, the everyday family life—pull up a chair and spend a little time with me.
And please keep Ron in your prayers. ❤️
I’ll put both the single-batch recipe and the large quadruple batch below for anyone who would like to try Josiah’s Breakfast Bread.
Thanks for spending a little part of your day with us.
God bless,
Liyah
