In this short, I respond to Catholic apologist Trent Horn’s claim that 1 Corinthians 1:12-13 proves Christians should follow the authority of the institutional church. But is that really what Paul was saying? I explain that Paul was addressing divisions in the Corinthian church—where believers were aligning themselves with different human leaders like Paul, Apollos, or Cephas. Paul wasn't pointing them to a central church authority, but calling them back to unity in Christ. The focus was never supposed to be on man—but on Jesus alone.
