Did Jesus change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday? Did He abolish the seventh-day Sabbath at the cross—or teach that it was only for the Jews? “Jesus Never Said That” is a humorous Christian country-gospel song that puts these popular claims to a simple biblical test: Where did Jesus actually say them?
Jesus declared that “the Sabbath was made for man” and called Himself “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27–28). He said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15), and clearly stated that He did not come to destroy the Law (Matthew 5:17–19). Yet nowhere in Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John does Jesus announce that Sunday is the new Sabbath, cancel the seventh day, or transfer its blessing to the first day of the week.
This song explores what the Bible really teaches about:
• The seventh-day Sabbath
• Saturday versus Sunday worship
• Jesus and the Sabbath
• Whether Jesus broke the Sabbath
• The Ten Commandments under the New Covenant
• The claim that God’s Law was nailed to the cross
• The absence of a biblical command changing the Sabbath
Search the red letters for yourself and ask the question: If Jesus never changed the Sabbath, why should we?
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” — Exodus 20:8
