Best Anti Cancer Salad With Napa Cabbage
Napa cabbage, like many cruciferous vegetables, contains compounds called glucosinolates, which are responsible for its cancer-fighting properties. When you chop, chew, or digest these vegetables, glucosinolates break down into biologically active compounds such as indoles, nitriles, thiocyanates, and isothiocyanates. Among these, isothiocyanates are particularly notable for their potential to inhibit cancer development.
Isothiocyanates have been shown to interfere with the process of carcinogenesis (the formation of cancer) through several mechanisms. They can induce detoxification enzymes that help the body eliminate potential carcinogens. Additionally, they may inhibit the growth of cancer cells, promote apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells, and interfere with the formation of blood vessels that tumors need to grow (angiogenesis).
