Friends, as we await the conclave, I’ve been thinking a lot about the papacy from a theological standpoint. I’d like to share some of those reflections with you now, emphasizing the pope as an embodiment of the Church’s charisms: the Pauline, the Johannine, and the Petrine, operating under the matrix of Marian obedience.
