The Temple court was already upside down before Jesus started flipping tables. Meant to be a special place where anyone—Jew or Gentile—could draw near to God, it had become a corrupt marketplace that repelled worshipers instead of welcoming them in. Jesus couldn’t stand it or let it stand one minute longer.
