Jamie MacDonald - "Roots" Lyric Video (Inspired by The Chosen)
The Chosen
We’re excited to bring you “Roots” by Jamie MacDonald, the second single from our upcoming album of Songs Inspired by The Chosen.
This one’s actually been years in the making. Back during Covid, Jamie and her mom would watch the show together over Facetime, and when the intro song would play, she’d say, “Someday, maybe I’ll have a song on The Chosen.” Today, that dream comes true.

Jamie says “Roots” is inspired by the deep, unbreakable connection between Jesus and his followers that holds them strong in the harshest seasons of life. We hope you find it as encouraging as we do.

‘Cause I’m planted by the hand of the Maker
Ain’t nothing gonna get to me
My roots are not in this world
I am a child of Heaven, Heaven
Come hell or high water
I’m held by the Father
And I’m safe when the storm don’t sleep
‘Cause these roots run deep
(Roots run deep)
These roots run deep
(Roots run deep)
I’m not afraid of the tide
I know that flood’s gonna rise
I’m gonna lift my eyes
And it won’t take me, it won’t take me
I’m not afraid of the rain
My Savior knows me by name
I’ll face the hurricane
And it won’t break me, it won’t break me
My roots are not in this world
I am a child of Heaven, Heaven
Come hell or high water
I’m held by the
