Going to college isn’t always the only way to make more money or get in a better financial situation.

While this can be true, your experience and skills will take you a long way when finding the next opportunity.

If you take out student loans to cover the cost, the debt will take a major toll on your future goals and dreams. That’s not the way to think about it. You have a lot of options that won’t land you in debt.

You can take free online classes to further your skills, go to a community college for your pre-recs and pay for it slowly in cash, or learn a new skill entirely by apprenticing with someone. Developing your skills and experience will take you so much further than your degree can, and most of the time you can earn money while learning them instead of paying.

While some career paths do require a degree, like jobs in the medical field, not all do. If you’re wondering if going back to school is really worth it, be sure to consider all your options to find the best return on your investment of time and resources.
