The 7 Foods (with real prices)
These are simple, but they carry almost my entire week:
Oats (16 oz – about $5–$6)
This usually lasts me more than a week. I use about 10–12 oz weekly, so it comes out to around $3–$4 per week for breakfast.
Brown rice (2 lb – about $7–$9)
This is one of my main staples. I only use about half per week, so roughly $4–$5/week.
Black beans (16 oz – about $2–$3)
One of the cheapest and most filling foods. This easily covers multiple meals.
Eggs (pasture-raised dozen – about $8–$10)
This is one of my higher-cost items, but I still include it because it’s so versatile. You can swap for cheaper eggs if needed.
Frozen vegetables (16 oz – about $2–$4 per bag)
I usually get 2 bags per week → around $4–$8 total.
No waste, no prep, always there when I need it.
Whole lettuce or cabbage ($1–$3 each)
Much cheaper than bagged greens and lasts longer. I usually get 1–2 per week.
Wheat berries (about $8–$10 for 3 lb portion)
This gives me about 7 cups of flour, which turns into bread or porridge for the week.
