YOU know what that season does to a person. YOU spend everything YOU have. YOU go to everyone YOU are told to go to. YOU do what is supposed to work — and not only does it not work, YOU end up worse than when YOU started. And by the end of it, YOU are not just sick of the problem. YOU are sick of hoping.

That is exactly where Mark 5 begins.

The person in this passage had run out of every option a human being can run out of. Money, gone. Options, gone. Permission, gone. And it was worse than YOU think — because there were rules in place at that time that made it flatly forbidden for someone in that condition to even be in that crowd, let alone reach for anyone in it. Legally. Publicly. Religiously.

Every single door was closed. Except one. And what she did with that one remaining door — the one thing that had not been taken from her, the one thing nobody had the authority to shut — is the entire reason this story is still being told two thousand years later.

Here is what most people never notice. That day, she was not the only person touching Him. A whole crowd was pressed up against Him. People were bumping into Him, brushing past Him, making physical contact with Him from every direction.

Only one of them left different. Something separated her from every other person in that crowd — something YOU cannot see in the passage unless YOU slow down and look for it. And once YOU see it, YOU will understand why some people are around God for years and never receive anything, while someone else reaches once and everything changes.

There is also something she said — before she moved, before she reached, before anything happened — that she said to no one but herself. And it is the single most overlooked sentence in this entire passage.
