There is a specific kind of exhaustion that does not go away with a good night of sleep — the kind YOU feel in YOUR spirit after carrying something for so long that YOU forgot what rested felt like. And here is what the enemy does with that tiredness: he whispers that worn out means finished, that stepping back means it is time to quit, that the fight YOU were in is one YOU should quietly walk away from. So YOU set it down. YOU stop swinging. And YOU call it peace when it is really surrender.
Isaiah 40:28-31 meets YOU right there, and it does not scold YOU for being weary. It admits something first — that even the strongest people faint, that even the young and able fall flat. It lets the tiredness be real before it says a single word about strength.
And then it makes a promise about what happens to YOUR strength that most tired people have never slowed down enough to actually receive.
Here is what most people miss. The renewal in this passage is not handed to the people who push harder. It is given to the ones who do one specific thing first — and that one thing is the opposite of what an exhausted person instinctively tries to do.
And the pattern repeats all through Scripture. There is one man whose eyes had not dimmed and whose strength had not faded even at the very end of a long life. There is another who, at eighty-five years old, pointed at the hardest mountain in the land and asked for it — not retirement, a mountain. Their stories are in here, and they are not accidents.
Because being tired is not the same as being finished. Stepping back to breathe is not the same as leaving the fight for good. God has never once run out of strength, and He has not changed His mind about what He put YOU here to do.
Not used up. Not too old. Not too late. Not disqualified by how worn down YOU feel today.
So get back up. Get back in. The battle
