mRNA vaccines, such as the ones developed for COVID-19, are a revolutionary type of vaccine that work by introducing a small piece of genetic material, called messenger RNA (mRNA), into the body. This mRNA provides instructions to our cells to produce a harmless piece of the spike protein found on the surface of the virus. This prompts our immune system to recognize and mount a defense against the spike protein, thereby protecting us from the actual virus.
There have been reports of mRNA vaccines used in the pork industry. Therefore, many people are wondering what the implications are to the consumers.
According to Dr. Kevin Folta, a microbiologist, "While mRNA vaccines include genetic code, the use of a mRNA vaccines does not alter the animal’s genes in any way."
“This [mRNA] is an intermediate between the gene itself and the products that the gene encodes. So, it's like having a blueprint and a house. The mRNA is like the construction worker. It takes the blueprint and manufactures the house. In the case of the cell, it takes the DNA blueprint and then takes a little bit of that information to build part of the final structure. The mRNA is just that intermediate, it does not change the genes. It doesn't change the DNA itself,” he explains.
However, it is best to stay vigilant and to realize that any alteration done to food does is not congruent to the Biblical way of eating. This is why eating by the three principles is a healthy and sustainable lifestyle to ensure your well-being.
