The King and the Furnace – Timothy Keller [Sermon]
Tim Keller sermons via Gospel in Life: In sixth century BC, Babylon was the preeminent power in the world, and this passage shows how they conquered Israel and deported the professional classes, including artisans, scholars, and government and military officers, in order to subjugate them through assimilation. This passage shows how Daniel and his three friends (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) confronted the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. What happened in that confrontation? In this sermon, we will see three things: 1) The pressure of pluralism; 2) The precision of true faith; and 3) The promises of suffering.
This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on August 21, 2011.
