Today, we're going to be making some Nutella. I know Nutella is in the grocery store, you can buy it, but I'm telling you, when you buy it in the grocery store, it has extra sugar, and it has extra calories that you don't really need. And when we control the ingredients, we control our health. So learning how to make anything you buy in the grocery store at home. I mean anything that's real food puts you in charge of your health. And that's what my goal is, is to help you be in charge of your health and to get the benefits.
Now I was not able to find whole hazelnuts so I could teach you how to roast them and then to take off their peelings. But we saved a step anyway. So we'll go ahead and use these are already chopped. They're already roasted and they're already chopped. So we're gonna put these in our blender here.
Finally ground up nuts, so I want to take them a little bit further, but I'm gonna go ahead and add one of our optional ingredients and that's the vanilla extract. And then I'm going to add three tablespoons of cocoa powder.
Next, add in a sweetener - you could use stevia to save on the calories and just to have a very healthy, nutritious spread, or you can go ahead and add some type of form of sucanat. If you're going to add sucanat just go ahead and choose the amount that's good for you one tablespoon, two tablespoons, or maybe even three.
So you can use the apples for dipping and enjoy it that way. You could use it with the banana slices serve that to your kids. The point is, no matter what's in the grocery store, if it's made from natural food, then we can make it at home save money and know that we're in charge of our family's health.
Now I want to take this recipe and let's turn it into some cookies. So we used one cup of the batch for heat for a dip the other cup I left right here in my bowl.
To this I'm going to add one cup of flour. So we're going to make some nutella chocolate chip cookies. Now the flour can be either an almond flour, or it can actually be just the whole wheat freshly milled flour. And if it's a whole wheat then you could use your spell to commute einkorn Emmer whole wheat, red wheat, white wheat, doesn't really matter, it's going to make a good cookie.
We already have vanilla, so that's already included. Otherwise I'd add it now and then I'm adding a little bit of baking powder looks like I had a little bit of a chunk there and sometimes that happens. We just break that down. You do not want to bite into a bite of baking soda in your keys. That would be awful. Now the baking soda if you don't have any on hand, it's totally optional.
We just mixed this up and we will bake about a dozen cookies. A nice treat for a nice afternoon!
