Most people imagine the Council of Nicaea as a perfectly balanced meeting of church leaders from across the Roman Empire—but in reality, the West was barely represented. Out of 318 bishops, only a handful came from the Latin-speaking world, with the vast majority hailing from the Greek-speaking East.
