Why Protestants Say “Roman Catholic”—Not Just Catholic
Many Roman Catholics object when Protestants use the term “Roman Catholic,” insisting they are simply “Catholic.” But in this video, I explain why Protestants continue to use the term—not out of disrespect, but out of necessity. We explore what the word “catholic” historically meant, why Protestants and Eastern Orthodox still claim it, and how even the Vatican and popes have used “Roman Catholic” to distinguish their tradition. If we’re going to speak clearly about our differences, we need accurate language—and that’s why we can’t stop saying it.
