When can your baby sleep with a blanket?
When can your baby safely sleep with a blanket? π€
Those cozy nursery blankets are adorable β but for the first year, the safest sleep space is completely bare. No blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, or bumpers.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends waiting until at least 12 months β ideally closer to 18 months β before introducing a blanket, when toddlers can reliably move objects away from their face.
Until then, use a wearable sleep sack to keep baby warm without increasing suffocation risk.
Once your little one is over one and transitioning to a toddler bed, choose a lightweight, breathable blanket like cotton or muslin β and skip anything heavy or bulky.
Under one? Firm mattress. Fitted sheet. Thatβs it.
Safe sleep is always worth it π€
