What is true friendship according to the Bible? Christian Questions, Moments that Matter
One of the most significant friendships in the Bible was also the most unique. Abraham was referred to as a friend of God. How could the Almighty God be a friend to this one tiny human being? It is all about mutual respect. God respected Abraham’s love and loyalty to Him and He chose to work with Abraham in the development of His eternal plan for humanity.
In a recent podcast we also observed the friendship between John the Baptist and Jesus. When John’s influence was beginning to wane, he described himself as a bridegroom’s friend. Jesus the bridegroom was destined to receive the bride and John’s great joy was for this to happen. Again, we have the deep loyalty of true friendship expressed in a humble and proactive relationship.
