What Christians Get Wrong About the Tithe | Are You Giving Biblically?
Tithing is one of the most misunderstood teachings in Christianity. Many believe they are required to give exactly 10% of their income to the church, but is this truly a New Testament command? 🤔
📖 Misconceptions About Tithing:
1️⃣ Christians Are Commanded to Tithe – The Old Testament tithe functioned like a national tax to support the Levites, festivals, and the poor. The New Testament does NOT command believers to tithe!
2️⃣ Christians Are Free NOT to Give – While we aren’t bound by a legalistic 10%, Jesus spoke extensively about money. Giving is a key indicator of our devotion to God!
3️⃣ God Cares About the Heart, Not the Amount – The story of the poor widow in Luke 21 shows that our generosity is measured by faith and sacrifice, not just a percentage.
💡 So what does God expect from Christians today?
God calls us to cheerful, sacrificial, and generous giving (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Whether 10%, more, or less—what matters is a heart of trust and generosity.
