So Matt, give us some examples of those who spoke and act with courage and wisdom.
Well, thank you Rick. I'm glad you asked. There are four really good examples that we're going to discuss. And it's Jeremiah, Moses, John the Baptist, and Elijah. Now, before we get into details of the individuals, all four of them took an action or said words that were not convenient for them personally. If these gentlemen were looking to get ahead in life, this was not the way to do it. Jeremiah ended up in a public cage for people to stare at him. I think he was abused physically. Moses, look, if you're looking to get ahead, Moses was on the fast track. He'd been put into a river, raised by the Egyptians, and he had life good. But once he found out that that's not where he belonged, he took an action and he left. He left being a prince of Egypt to wander the wilderness and then go rescue his people.

John the Baptist was criticizing Herod. He was criticizing the ruler over the land, and generally that's not a wise ladder-climbing decision, if you will. And he ended up, of course, being beheaded for it. And Elijah was running for his life from Ahab and Jezebel for years. And again, no home, lived in the wilderness, was fed by ravens for a while. Not great lives, but great men of God. And what really separates these folks is they had this passion for serving God. And in their gut, in their core, they knew what God wanted them to do and they couldn't shy away from it. Jeremiah says, it was like a fire that was shut up in my bones and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. I could not not say it. I know I'm going to bring them news that they don't want to hear, and they're going to hate me for it. And you know what? That's just going to have to be how it is, because this is what God wants me to do and I love God. And if He gives me something to do, I'm going to do it to the best of my ability.
