Wise actions are important:
“Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.” (Proverbs 15:5, NLT) Our parents have a lot more experience than we do, so let’s humbly accept their good instruction. When we make a mistake, thinking carefully about what we did can help us make better choices in the future.
“Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with an arrow.” (Proverbs 25:18, NLT) God hates lying. People should be able to trust that what we say is true. Lying about others is especially hurtful.
“People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13, NLT) Rather than hide our mistakes, let’s admit them and ask for forgiveness - both from God and the person we might have hurt. Then let’s try not to make the same mistakes again.
“A quick-tempered man acts foolishly and without self-control,...” (Proverbs 14:17, Amplified Bible) Self-control is the ability to control one’s emotions and desires, especially in difficult or tempting situations. Exercising self-control helps our Christian characters. Let’s try to stay calm when things don’t go our way.
“My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!” (Proverbs 1:10, NLT) Do you know someone who always seems to influence others to misbehave? Let’s avoid people like this!
