VE Day Service 2025 - Alexander Churchill lights the VE Day Candle of Peace

The VE Day 80 Candle of Peace is lit by 10-year-old Alexander Churchill, the great-great-grandson of wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, during a Service of Thanksgiving to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day held in Westminster Abbey on 8th May 2025.

As the candle was lit, young people handed flowers to veterans of the Second World War seated in the nave.
