Trusting God in Quiet Disappointment | Your Nightly Prayer
Your Daily Prayer
Have you ever been afraid to admit:
“God, I’m disappointed.”
You prayed.
You hoped.
You worked hard.
You trusted.
And the outcome still wasn’t what you wanted.
Maybe someone you love became sick.
A relationship ended.
The opportunity never came.
Something unfair happened.
Or life simply looks nothing like what you thought it would by now.
Tonight’s Your Nightly Prayer is for the disappointment you haven’t quite known how to talk about.
Tonight’s Scripture
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” — Psalm 42:11
Disappointment can make us question what we thought we knew about God.
Is He good?
Does He see me?
Why did He allow this?
Why didn’t He answer differently?
Those questions can feel frightening—especially when we think having them means we’re failing at faith.
But God already knows what’s happening inside your heart.
You can bring Him the questions.
And then, like the psalmist, you can remind your soul where your hope ultimately belongs.
Part of trusting God is also humbly acknowledging what we cannot see.
We have one perspective.
One moment in history.
One understanding of circumstances far bigger than ourselves.
God sees what we cannot.
Tonight, you don’t have to understand everything God is doing before you choose to trust His character.
Bring Him your disappointment.
Bring Him your questions.
Bring Him your desire to control the outcome.
And ask Him to give you wisdom, humility, and hope.
🙏 What disappointment have you struggled to bring honestly before God?
You can simply pray:
“God, I don’t understand this, but help me keep hoping in You.”
