The Search for King David - OFFICIAL TRAILER 1
We are all familiar with the heroic deeds of the gladiators of ancient Rome. But did you know the Bible records a gladiatorial-style contest in the early history of the Israelite kings? It pitted a heavily armed giant, equipped with the latest fighting gear, against a simple shepherd armed only with a sling and a stone. The story sounds highly improbable. Was it true?
Even though David was one of the most famous kings of ancient Israel, many historians and Bible critics have rejected the biblical accounts as myths. Many said King David didn’t really exist. Was he just a mythical hero? Join us as we search for evidence of King David.

Three thousand years ago, a young king captured Jerusalem from the Jebusites and made it his nation’s capital. His name was David. To this day, Jerusalem is still known as the City of David. In the Hebrew Scriptures, the city is called “the City of David” forty-five times.
Who was this warrior-king who gave his name to the city? David is one of the most celebrated figures in Jewish history. Born in Bethlehem, he was the youngest of Jesse’s eight sons. The Bible traces his lineage carefully: he stood only ten generations removed from Judah, a great-grandson of Abraham, the patriarch of both Judaism and Christianity.
David’s destiny was sealed when the prophet Samuel, sent by God, anointed him as the next king of Israel. The ceremony had to be secret; it would have been dangerous for the reigning king, Saul, to learn that a successor had already been chosen. That quiet anointing marked the beginning of David’s journey from the pastures of Bethlehem to the palaces of Jerusalem.
