The Nicene Creed You Recite Wasn’t from Nicaea

Many Christians are surprised to learn that the Nicene Creed recited in churches today isn’t the same one agreed upon at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. The version we use was revised over 50 years later at the Council of Constantinople in 381, expanding its teaching on the Holy Spirit, adding key details about Christ’s life, and replacing its original anathemas with a worshipful confession of faith.
