The most freeing thing I've learned as a Christian mama 🥲 #gospel #jesus

I never want my kids to get the idea that being a Christian means being perfect, or that they could do anything to earn God’s love.

I want them to understand that the Gospel says we are all sinners who fall short of the glory of God. That’s precisely why Jesus’ death and resurrection to save us from our sin and restore us to relationship with God is GOOD NEWS.

This means that when I lose my patience, or when my words aren’t as kind or gentle as I want them to be, and guilt starts washing over me…the best thing I can do is confess and repent in front of and to my kids.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t very patient in kind in that moment. Will you forgive me?” Then praying in front of them, “God please forgive me and help me to be more patient even when I’m overwhelmed. Thank You that You are always patient with me, and that You promise to keep growing me to look more like You.”

Kids don’t need a false picture of perfection presented to them. They need a picture of what it looks like to turn continually to the Perfect One. 🤍
