Imagine boarding a ship at four years old, leaving everything familiar behind for a promise of a better life. This historical account unravels the tragic reality of thousands of children shipped from Britain to colonies across the world, starting in the 17th century. It explores the origins of this state-sanctioned displacement, tracing the journey from King James I to the mid-20th century arrivals in Australia.
