The God Who Holds Tomorrow | Your Nightly Prayer
Do you struggle to plan for tomorrow without worrying about everything that could go wrong?
Maybe you plan carefully.

Then check the plan again.
Then imagine every possible outcome.
Then try to prepare for all of those too.
At some point, wise planning can quietly turn into trying to control the future.
Tonight's Your Nightly Prayer is about learning the difference.
Tonight's Scripture
“Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’” — James 4:15
Does James 4 mean Christians shouldn't make plans?
No.
James 4 does not condemn planning, preparation, responsibility, or wisdom.
It challenges the assumption that we control what happens next.
Christians can make plans while still holding those plans humbly before God.
We can say:
“This is what I intend to do—Lord willing.”
That is not passivity.
It's surrender.
Amber Ginter describes this beautifully as a both/and approach.
She can go to therapy.
Take medication.
Journal.
Practice healthy coping strategies.
And also pray.
Memorize Scripture.
Trust Jesus.
One does not cancel the other.
Trusting God with tomorrow does not mean ignoring practical care today.
It means doing what you responsibly can while refusing to carry what only God can control.
Tonight, ask yourself:
Am I preparing for tomorrow—or trying to guarantee it?
You can make the plan.
Then release the outcome.
🙏 Pray:
“Jesus, help me do what is mine to do and trust You with what is not.”
