Pay attention to this, because YOU may be living it right now. For a long time the pressure against YOU was obvious — opposition, threats, resistance YOU could see coming. But lately it changed. The invitation got friendlier. "Let's just talk." "Come meet me halfway." "Let's sit down and work this out." And it sounds so reasonable that YOU almost can't see what it really is: the same enemy, with a new tactic, trying to get YOU to come down off the very thing God told YOU to build.

Nehemiah 6:1-9 catches that exact switch. The wall was almost finished. The frontal attacks had failed. So the strategy changed from force to invitation — a repeated, reasonable-sounding request to come down from the work and meet in a neutral place. It was a trap. And it came not once, not twice, but over and over, each time dressed up as dialogue.

Here is what most people miss. He did not win this by out-arguing them. He won it with one short sentence he repeated every single time they asked — the same answer, word for word — and inside that one sentence is the whole secret to surviving a distraction disguised as peace.

He would not come down. He would not stop the work to defend himself. And when they switched to an open letter full of accusations meant to frighten him into negotiating, he did not write a long defense — he prayed one line and kept building.

Because the enemy does not always come to destroy the work. Sometimes he just comes to interrupt it — to get YOU talking, explaining, defending, meeting, until the assignment quietly stalls and never gets finished.

So don't come down. Not for the argument. Not for the accusation. Not for the invitation that sounds like peace but is built to pull YOU off YOUR wall.

Not distracted. Not baited. Not talked down. Not moved off the thing God put in YOUR hands.
