This Evensong takes place during Edwardtide, the day before the anniversary of the dedication of Henry III's Abbey in 1269. In Edwardtide we celebrate the life of St Edward the Confessor, the king and saint whose shrine lies at the heart of Westminster Abbey. On the day of National Pilgrimage, visitors to the Abbey are invited to walk a pilgrimage path, to pray in his shrine, and to think about the life and legacy of Edward the Confessor.
