Running (Lyric Video) - Jonathan Ogden

Running - from the album DAY, out now! I really risked my life for this one πŸ˜† I wrote this song after a conversation with a friend. I was tired, discouraged, disappointed, struggling to keep going. She reminded me that I'm in good company of all of us in this life running our race - that we pick each other up when we fall. "You've got this" she told me "the finish line is not that far down".

I often find myself drawn to thoughts of eternity, and the promise of the coming joy and future glory is real and gives me hope, in light of that - our life seems so short and fleeting. But there are days when an entire life feels like a really, really long time. That conversation helped shift my perspective again. When I fix my eyes on eternity I remember the finish line is never too far away, and we have good company in one another even as we run. I wrote this song as a reminder to myself but maybe to anyone else that needs a little extra cheering on in their race.

Lyrics:
When you're living this life
Keep your sight on the finish line
Take it one day at a time
You'll be alright

You said: never lose hope
It's just a little further to go
I know it's a narrow road
But you're never alone

'Cause the joy will surely come
When all is said and done
So I'm gonna run

I know the end is unseen
I still try to carry on
Even if the journey means
I never get what I want

But here in the in-between
I hear the voices cheering me on
They're saying that you've always been
The reason we run

And it's the worth the life we spend
For joy that never ends

So I'll keep running, running, running, running
I'll keep running, running, running, running
I keep running, running, running, running
Help my keep running, running, running, running

Running, running, running, running
And I'll do the best I can
Don't know where the journey ends but I'll try to keep running
And though I may not understand
You will hold me in your hand
So I'll try to keep running
