Rooted in Christ Alone | Your Nightly Prayer

It’s easy to divide our attention—trying to juggle responsibilities while filling every spare moment with distractions. But divided focus often leads to mistakes, frustration, and spiritual drift.

The same is true in our faith. The storms of life—stress, busyness, even good things—can quietly pull our eyes away from Jesus. Peter stayed steady on the water only while his focus remained on Christ. The moment he shifted his attention to the wind and waves, he began to sink.

Paul reminds us that the Christian life isn’t built on religion, self-effort, or even a set of spiritual habits—it’s built on Christ Himself. We don’t add Jesus onto our lives; we live from Him, rooted in His presence and dependent on His strength.

As we begin a new year, the goal isn’t perfect focus—but deeper dependence. Christ is our foundation, our life, and our steady ground.

TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.” — Colossians 2:6

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
I confess how easily I divide my attention—how quickly I let responsibilities, distractions, and even good things pull my focus away from You. Tonight, I want to be rooted in Christ alone.

Help me fix my eyes on Jesus. When storms rise around me, remind me that You are my firm foundation and my steady ground. Teach me to live my life in Christ, not just around Him—so that every moment flows from dependence on You, not self-effort.

When I feel pulled in a hundred directions, draw me back to what matters most: Your presence, Your love, and Your truth. Strengthen me by Your Spirit to live this new year grounded in Christ, faithful in the small moments, and steady in every season.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
