A Prayer for Good Friday
Heavenly Father,
today we humble ourselves before You.
We give You all the Glory
for the great Love
You have shown us
by sending Your only begotten Son
Jesus Christ into this world.
Loving Father,
today on this Blessed Good Friday,
we wish to tell You
how grateful we are
for the selfless sacrifice
made by Your beloved son Jesus Christ.
On this day,
we remember the pain and suffering
that Jesus Christ endured for our sake.
Jesus Christ was betrayed,
he suffered so much,
shed so much blood.
He was beaten and wounded.
He was crowned with thorns
and crucified on the cross.
Although he never sinned against anyone,
he was punished
and had to endure so much agony
for the sake of our sins.
Jesus Christ made the supreme sacrifice
of dying on the Cross
so that we get the gift of Eternal life.
He gladly gave his life,
so that we are redeemed
from the weight of our sins.
Help us to remember
this great sacrifice
all the days of our lives.
Gracious and loving God,
fill me with gratitude and grace
to sit in the stillness
that mourns Your son's death,
yet celebrates the ultimate triumph of the cross.
Help us to live a right and just life,
that will honour Your Holy name,
so that this sacrifice will not be in vain.
Help us to trust You in all things,
at all times,
even through the valleys
and dark seasons of our lives.
You are our Rock and our Refuge,
Abba Father, our strength in the storm.
Your love never ceases,
Your mercies never end.
Thank You loving Father,
for this ultimate demonstration
of Your Great love for us.
Thank You for the forgiveness of our sins
through your son Jesus Christ.
Help us to live the life
You desire of us,
bringing Glory to You
in all that we do.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
