Memories of the Bible

1. Age 14 – Youth pastor read Matthew 25:31-46
Matthew 25:46 "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

2. Age 18 – started at Matthew – Romans 1:18ff
Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, [19] because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. [20] For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

3. Age 18 – Hebrews 5-10 – I believe reading these is how I got saved. I read them OC for weeks. I had started in Matthew and was trying to get through the whole New Testament.
Jesus as the high priest… did everything to save me – everything. Key passages:
Hebrews 7:27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
Hebrews 9:12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
Hebrews 10:10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

4. Age 19 – Severely depressed and anxious and sad… about my mom’s life – and my directionless college career… Bible roulette:
Lament. 3:19-33 Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness. [20] Surely my soul remembers And is bowed down within me. [21] This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. [22] The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. [23] They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. [24] "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him." [25] The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. [26] It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord. [27] It is good for a man that he should bear The yoke in his youth. [28] Let him sit alone and be silent Since He has laid it on him. [29] Let him put his mouth in the dust, Perhaps there is hope. [30] Let him give his cheek to the smiter, Let him be filled with reproach. [31] For the Lord will not reject forever, [32] For if He causes grief, Then He will have compassion According to His abundant lovingkindness. [33] For He does not afflict willingly Or grieve the sons of men.

5. Age 20 – Psalm 49 – life without the fear of God is like being a dumb animal that dies.
