Pergolesi's Stabat Mater sung by the St Margaret's Choristers of Westminster Abbey
This Good Friday, we’re pleased to share a new recording from the St Margaret’s Choristers, who have recorded the first section of Giovanni Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. This is an 18th century setting of an earlier poem, a reflection on Mary the Mother of God weeping at the foot of the cross.
Sung by the St Margaret's Choristers. Conducted by Greg Morris, Director of Music at St Margaret's. Organ played by Richard Pearce.
Latin lyrics
Stabat Mater dolorosa iuxta crucem lacrimosa dum pendebat Filius
English Translation
