Old-Fashioned Cake Donut Dunking Sticks & A Northern Autumn Walk | The Biblical Homestead
There’s something special about this time of year on the homestead—when the maples turn fiery red, golden yellow, and burnt orange, and the air carries that crisp whisper of change. Today, I’m inviting you into my kitchen and out across our land for a peaceful northern color tour and a taste of childhood nostalgia.
In this video, I’m making an old-fashioned cake donut—shaped into those wonderful “dunking sticks” we used to enjoy as kids. Lightly crisp on the outside, tender inside, and flavored with just the right amount of nutmeg. Once dipped in a simple glaze, they’re perfect for morning coffee, evening tea, or sharing with someone you love.
We’ll take a slow walk through the woods together—to breathe in the colors of fall, talk about the goodness of God in every season, and enjoy a bit of quiet fellowship. No rush. No noise. Just a moment to enjoy the beauty of creation.
A little note: The audio and video of the recipe portion don’t perfectly match up (real life happens around here), but all measurements and ingredients are clear and included for you to follow along.
So grab a warm mug, settle in, and come spend some time with me—both in the kitchen and beneath the maple trees.
