You’re not alone! It’s commonly known as “lightning crotch”, and it’s a catch-all phrase for a sudden, sharp, stabbing pain that occurs in the pelvis, rectum, or vulva. 😳😫 It’s usually caused by your baby’s head pressing on the bundle of nerves near your cervix.

But fear not, mama! There are ways to find relief from lightning crotch.
Here are a few tips:
⚡️ Stay active. Walking daily activates your lymph, muscular and nervous systems, all things that will help with lightning crotch.
⚡️ Practice pelvic floor exercises: Strengthening and stretching your pelvic floor muscles can help alleviate some of the discomfort. Try doing kegel exercises, butterflies, pelvic rocks and gentle squats regularly.
⚡️ Warm the area: Applying gentle heat can help soothe the pain. Use the lowest setting on a heating pad and apply for 10 mins. Or you can take a warm bath or point a shower nozzle to your lower back.
⚡️ Wear supportive underwear or even a maternity belt: Opt for underwear with a wide waistband for support or wear a maternity belt for a few hours per day.
⚡️Consider topical magnesium or a low dose (200mg) of magnesium a day to help soothe your nerves.
Other modalities if the pain is frequent:💛 Chiropractic adjustments can do wonders for our nervous system and alignment!
💛 Gentle myofascial release can normalize the pelvic floor muscle tone and alleviate pain.
💛 Acupuncture can target various nerves in the body and help soothe the discomfort.
