Learning to Let the Season Slow You Down | Your Nightly Prayer

Does slowing down make you uncomfortable?

Maybe your schedule is finally quieter.
Maybe a season of waiting has forced you to stop.
Maybe God is asking you to lay something down.
And instead of feeling relieved, part of you worries that you should be doing more.

Tonight’s Your Nightly Prayer is a reminder that slow seasons are not always setbacks.
Sometimes they are gifts.

Tonight’s Scripture
“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.” — Psalm 62:1

Our culture often celebrates the person who is doing the most.
More commitments.
More responsibilities.
More productivity.
More movement.
But God created us with limits.

And throughout Scripture, we see moments when He calls His people into stillness, waiting, preparation, and deeper dependence on Him.
Noah’s obedience was not fast.

Building the ark required patience, consistency, and trust in God’s direction long before anyone else understood what he was doing.
Maybe your current season feels slow too.
That doesn’t automatically mean you’re behind.
Maybe God is stripping away what He never asked you to carry.
Maybe He is teaching you to listen before you move.
Maybe stillness is creating space for clarity.

Tonight, ask yourself:

What am I afraid will happen if I stop rushing?
You do not need to fill every quiet space.
You do not need to earn God’s approval through busyness.
You can sit with Him.
Listen.
Wait.
And trust that He knows what this season is for.

🙏 What might God be asking you to lay down right now?

You can simply pray:
“Father, teach me to receive slow as a gift.”
