Lay down the worries.
Walking with Purpose
Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things. //Luke 10:41

Jesus never said that the things Martha was worrying about didn't matter. But His comment suggests that He didn't think the best response to them was anxiety....

As the saying goes, worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.

"Worry is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength—carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength." //Corrie ten Boom

Instead of emptying today of its strength by worrying, write out your main concerns. Ask the Lord to help you to see what He is asking you to do, and then take responsibility for that part. Everything that's left, all the aspects of the situation that fall outside your control, cast those worries on the Lord.

I promise you, He can handle it. //Lisa Brenninkmeyer in the Catholic Bible study Discovering our Dignity
