Let’s decode baby poop 💩

Newborn poop can look shocking, but most colors are completely normal.

🖤 Black & sticky (first days)? Meconium — totally normal.
💛 Mustard yellow (breastfed babies)? The gold standard.
🤎 Tan, brown, or green (formula-fed)? Also normal.
💚 Green? Can be iron, digestion shifts, or mild tummy changes.

🚩 Red, black after the newborn phase, or gray/chalky stool? That’s when it’s worth calling your provider.

Most of the time, yellow, brown, or green means your baby is healthy and digesting well. Baby poop tells a story — and usually it’s a reassuring one.
