Is there a Christian secret to a happy life? Moments that Matter, Christian Questions


The first thing in figuring out what a “happy” life looks like would be to define “happy”. Happy means many things! “Happy Birthday” is wishing someone feelings of goodness and excitement. A happy coincidence is when events come together in an unplanned yet positive way. “Happily ever after” indicates a smooth and contented life going forward.

In a recent podcast we observed that biblical happiness is different. It is much more about a state of mind than it is about our emotional state. In the Old Testament the same Hebrew word is used for “happy” and “blessed”. This suggests that biblical happiness for those who are loyal to God is not an emotional state but a direct result of loyalty to God.
