Is God an angry god? Moments that Matter, Christian Questions
In Exodus 32:10 God is speaking to Moses, and he’s angry. He had just miraculously delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage and was giving Moses the Law. In Moses’ absence the people built a golden calf to worship. God told Moses “Now then let Me alone, that My anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them.”
In a recent podcast we observed how easy it is for many to interpret God’s anger here as out of control. The irony is that it uncovers the exact opposite conclusion and reveals God’s compassion and mercy. It reveals that God’s anger is merely a tool in His hand and not an aspect of His character.
