The dying process began because of sin, and Adam and Eve died within the thousand year day. Remember in 2 Peter 3:8, it tells us "a day of the Lord is like a thousand years." Well after death they were no longer a soul, a being.

But the question becomes, what's death? Clearly Satan lied because we all see death all around us, but is it just a gateway to another plane of existence? Is death for just an instant? And then after we pass through it, are we really even more alive than before, floating around in someplace?
No. It's that simple. No. See here's the thing, and here's the misrepresentation if you will. In Genesis it says, in the day you eat, you will surely die. It doesn't say you will surely go through the gateway of death to some other kind of existence. It says you will die. It becomes a stopping point, not a gateway. It is an absolute final destination. And the reason we say final, now we understand the resurrection and all that, but we say final because when God said that there was no provision for anything beyond that. You will die. And the sense of that is, that's the end of that story. So death is not, according to scripture, some kind of gateway. It is a final, final destination. This teaching about death being a final destination is clearly plainly repeated throughout the New Testament.
