I'm a new Christian! Now what? Moments that Matter, Christian Questions

Let’s begin with the bottom line. To be a Christian is work and this work actually begins even before we claim the name of Jesus. Jesus revealed this when he responded to some who were grumbling at his teachings. He said “no one comes to me except the Father draw him.” In a recent podcast we observed that the work begins with being open to the direction of God’s call, even though it’s NOT an audible voice.

Our next task is to respond. Jesus taught us that responding to this call of discipleship requires an investment of thought and consideration. This is so different from what many of us experienced. We realized that we were sinners, and emotionally ran towards Jesus for the forgiveness of those sins. This response is a good beginning, but there is much more to true discipleship. It calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow Jesus!
