How do I know if I am really following after Jesus? (Pt. I) Christian Questions, Moments that Matter

Discipleship is far more than loving Jesus. This completely unearned privilege requires intentional action, sacrifice and transformation. It should fill us with awe, gratitude, and humility. Recognizing the magnitude of this gift of God requires our appropriate response

Paul’s instruction in Romans 12:1 to “present your bodies a living sacrifice” introduces the core requirement of intentional self-denial, which Jesus modeled throughout his earthly life. As his disciples, we must likewise abstain from sinful desires and embrace the hardships that come with walking in his footsteps. These challenges produce spiritual growth and prepare us for eternal glory.

The call to be “holy and acceptable to God” requires adopting a new mindset shaped by the holy spirit. This new mindset involves continual learning, accurate handling of Scripture, humility and a commitment to godliness.
