How Can the European and Korean Churches Work Together?

The Majority World’s churches and missions are showing rapid growth and change. Korean missions, which sent 30,000 missionaries, are changing their mission direction from the Christendom model (Western) to the Poly-centric model, following the Majority World. In light of this change, how can Majority World Missions and European Churches work together for the Gospel? In particular, how might the 2,000 Korean missionaries serving in Europe and the European Church better cooperate for the renewal of the church and evangelization of Europe?

Lindsay Brown is a native of Wales. He studied European history at Oxford (MA) and theology at the Free Faculty of Theology at Vaux-sur-Seine, near Paris, under Henri Blocher. Lindsay has worked with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) for the past 45 years in a variety of roles, including serving as International Director. More recently, he has been leading the Fellowship of Evangelists in the Universities of Europe (FEUER). FEUER’s main goal is the development of a Europe-wide network of public university evangelists who work in partnership with indigenous student ministries throughout every country in Europe. He is the author of Shining Like Stars – The Power of the Gospel in the World’s Universities (IVP) and Into All the world – The Missionary Vision of Calvin and Luther (Christian Focus), which was written after a presentation at the European Leadership Forum several years ago.

Jonas Kang is the General Secretary of Korea World Mission Association (KWMA) and Chairman of Asia Missions Association (AMA). He is also an Itinerary Missionary of Global Missions Society (GMS).

Lee Sung Choon was a missionary in the Philippines for 4 years before he moved to Germany and worked for over 23 years there as a missionary. After that, he moved to Korea for 3 years where he served as an International Mission Director at Paul Mission International. Now, he has moved back to Germany to serve and is living in Frankfurt.

Hahn Choong-hee is currently Executive Director of TIM (Tyrannus International Mission) and Associate Pastor in Onnuri Church, Korea. TIM was established 30 years ago by Onnuri Church and is currently sending 450 missionaries to 54 countries. He has also been serving as a Korean diplomat for 35 years with many senior positions including Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations and Director-General for Cultural Affairs.

Mr. Hahn received an MA from the University of Pennsylvania, a BA from Seoul National University, and an MA diploma from the University of Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne). He also received an MTS (Master of Theological Studies) at the Torch Trinity Theological Seminary in Korea.

He is married with two children.
